My father and I were subject to an OPG investigation that came out of the blue, a very unsettling and worrying time after receiving the 16 odd page letter from them.

A quick google search and I found David at Steene Law, I jumped straight on the phone and almost immediately felt like I was in good hands.

We found out that the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) can investigate attorneys.

The 15 page letter they send and the short unreasonable timescale is overwhelming and we knew we needed expert advice as soon as possible.

We found Steene Law Ltd through Google; thank goodness we did.

My father went into care earlier this year with dementia.

Shortly after we were horrified to receive a letter from the OPG explaining that we were under investigation following claims that we had not been acting in Dad’s best interests and had been misappropriating his finances.

We were understandably distraught but safe in the knowledge we had done nothing wrong, we set about to answer all questions and supply many documents which the OPG asked for.

Naively, we thought that they would also see that we were innocent and the case would be closed. But several weeks later, we received another more sinister letter from them demanding more information.

We were told that our ability to manage our relative’s financial affairs had been blocked because a bank had made unwarranted, unfair and inaccurate statements to the Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). Their actions was causing the entire family unnecessary distress and anxiety. We were getting nowhere with either the bank or the OPG, and this was causing the family great distress.
